How we met
April 2014

We met on the 1st of April 2014. Well, not “meeting meeting” though, (as in one on one). And, I’m not trying to be religious here, but I would say our meeting was just God’s orchestration. So, in 2014, I was in a relationship and all I knew was that “my then” relationship wasn’t working for no reason. It went from one heartache to another. I didn’t know there was one guy somewhere not even in my continent praying seriously and probably why my then relationship wasn’t just going to work out. Fast-forward to March 2014, I was in the middle of emotional meltdowns. I was frustrated, depressed and in my mind, “I was done trying” and was just going to focus on myself. So, I got engaged with the social media, twitter to be precise. I was always checking out for funny tweets and memes just for fun and to stay happy.
The Journey...

On the 1st of April 2014, I was at my cousin’s place and was really bored so, I went on twitter as usual and I just thought I should tweet about something. Shortly after I did, someone retweeted and followed me at the same time and didn’t stop there ooh, he sent a PM too! The rest, they say, is history. We moved from being total strangers to becoming great friends (even though we weren’t in the same country, and we had never met one on one, we became best of friends) and now, we are on our way to spending the rest of our lives together.

So, back to why I said our meeting was “God’s orchestration”. Shortly after we became friends, he told me, that few days before I tweeted, he had a serious and a real conversation with God (he prayed). He was lonely, and had asked God for a female friend to fill “this space” in his heart. And there I was thinking “I was done trying”. When I think about our story, all that comes to mind is “when it looked like the sun wouldn’t shine any more, God put a rainbow in the clouds”.

We met officially on the 30th January 2015, and he officially asked me to be his girlfriend on the 7th of February 2015.
The Proposal
9th Aug, 2016

It was on my birthday, and he had told me that morning that I should try leave work early that he wanted us to hang out and spend quality time together. So, I made sure I finished all I needed to do on time and was ready for “this birthday hangout”. At few minutes to close of business, he called me to inform me that some guy is going to be waiting to pick me up outside my office gate and that I should be ready at 5pm sharp.
I got to the venue (a very nice restaurant), and he handed me a bag, and asked me to please locate the dressing room and change into the dress he got me for my birthday. So, I said to myself this guy must be up to something. I obliged.

While we were enjoying our meal, his best friend called that himself and his wife were joining us and so they did. (apparently, they had planned). We talked, laughed, and had loads of fun.
We were on our way out of the restaurant, walking his friend to his car, I turned to hug him (his friend) and as I turned back, I saw him kneeling, holding a shiny beautiful little ring and then he asked and of course he got a YES!
